Gotta return this cool little MPC Studio MK2. They allow for older OSX-compatibility, but not older versions of Windows. Companies are constantly warning people to NOT update to the latest OSX. notice how their older versions WORK, and the newer ones don't. But even before 7, tons of people stayed on XP for a long time, because Vista was so buggy. And yes, I know Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7. I hate how companies leave us in the dust. I have Windows 10, for gaming, primarily. I will never change from Windows 7, for recording music. There are still a ton of us who use nearly 25-year old hardware, such as the 2000XL. Just a heads-up for any Windows 7 users out there. much of their site also has outdated / broken links. Completely hopeless and futile process.Īkai doesn't really make this clear, in any of their videos or product pages. And I've tried.īought an MPC Studio MK2 a few days back, excited to try it out with MPC Beats. There is no workaround in getting the software updates to even install AT ALL on Windows 7, from what I can tell. Since you cannot install software version 2.10 to Windows 7 (it is fully blocked when you try), you can't use the hardware MPCs in Controller Mode at all. They have to match, for Controller Mode to be available. A paperweight.Īdditionally, you can't use the Live 2 or MPC One in Controller Mode, if your hardware is on firmware 2.10, and the software isn't. The screen says "Akai" even while MPC Beats or the MPC software is running. The MK2, even with the latest driver installed (which installed just fine to Windows 7), doesn't light up any of the pads or buttons. If you prefer Windows 7 to Windows 10 (like a LOT of us do), you're screwed, if trying to install MPC software 2.10 or newer, or if you own an MPC Studio MK2. It's gotta be said, as I don't see it said much.
